TOURIST DESTINATIONS

Work on the St. Anthony of Padua adit was carried out in 1753 and 1754. Contemporary reports state that "they found an old work 22 láter (about 40 metres) deep, and as no promising vein was immediately seen, they abandoned the work." The adit was then inaccessible for more than 250 years.

People have been living intermittently for the last 2.5 thousand years at the strategic location on Hradiště Hill, which rises high above the former confluence of the Vltava and the original Berounka riverbed. The largest Celtic oppidum (urban settlement) in Bohemia was declared a National Cultural Monument in 1989.

The church is the oldest building in the town and was built in place of a small wooden church consecrated to Sv. Mikuláš in the first half of the 13^th century. From the 13^th  century, the church was complemented by a vicarage and Oldřich of Sulzbach was the first priest there.

The Dendrological Garden Průhonice is an arboretum and botanical garden. The axis of the garden is the valley of the Černý Brook with a water cascade starting from the Černý Pond, which together with the northern part of the garden is included in the Botič - Milíčov Nature Park. The Dendrological Garden is a research and experimental workplace of the Silva Tarouca Research Institute for Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture, a public research institution.

The Regional Information Centre in Dolní Břežany presents the local, extremely rich history of settlement from prehistoric times to the present day. The research of archaeologists and their significant discoveries on the Hradiště hill in the area of Záviste and Šancí led to major discoveries. Therefore, the exhibition also focuses on the methods of archaeological research.
