TECHNICAL MONUMENTS

The St. Joseph Adit is one of the many mine workings in an important part of the Jihlava gold-bearing district - the Kocourské vein zone.

Work on the St. Anthony of Padua adit was carried out in 1753 and 1754. Contemporary reports state that "they found an old work 22 láter (about 40 metres) deep, and as no promising vein was immediately seen, they abandoned the work." The adit was then inaccessible for more than 250 years.

The history of brewing in Dolní Břežany dates back to the 16th century. Later the brewery was moved and devastated during the Thirty Years' War. Today's modern brewery brews both traditional Czech beers and various top-fermented specials. The brewery has great facilities - there is a restaurant, a beer spa and a hotel.

Access is provided to the historic heritage Václavská Štál, the main mine workings on the 1st floor level of the Pepř mine in Horní Studený and selected mine workings on the 1st floor level of the mine. The total length of the basic sightseeing tour is approximately 4 km. Locomotive passenger transport is provided on part of the tour circuit. The tour of the underground allows for an immediate experience and knowledge of the environment that for generations of miners in Jilemnice has been their workplace, their means of livelihood and a testament to their technical skill.
